An analysis of 100 patients who had recently recovered from COVID-19 infection has shown that around 80% of them had cardiac manifestations of the disease. The finding prompts the need for further research to understand the long-term consequences of COVID-19.In the study, 100 patients who recently recovered from COVID-19 illness from Germanys University Hospital Frankfurt, from April through June, were evaluated. Cardiac involvement was noted in 78 patients, and ongoing heart inflammation was evident in 60 patients. The reported symptoms were independent of preexisting conditions, severity and overall course of the acute illness, and time from the original diagnosis.
