UP govt devises strategy to secure doctors on COVID-19 duty

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has developed a new strategy to secure the COVID-19 warriors by providing them insurance and incentive for their services.

The state government has announced a life insurance scheme which will provide an incentive amount of Rs 75,000 to the doctors who are on COVID-19 duties.

Anesthetists, cardiologists, chest physicians, nephrologists, gynecologists and paediatricians have been asked by the state government to register for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), which will provide an incentive of about Rs 75,000 for discharging 15-day COVID-19 duty.

Additional Chief Secretary Medical and Health, Amit Mohan Prasad, wrote a letter to the State Health Department instructing the department to ensure better treatment facilities for COVID-19 patients suffering from severe illness.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the District Magistrates and Chief Medical Officers of all districts to conduct meetings twice a day in order to ensure better medical care for the affected individuals and immediately resolve the problems faced by the patients.

CM Yogi Adityanath also expressed his satisfaction over the state conducting 1.30 lakh COVID-19 tests daily. He also emphasized on increasing the number of beds in COVID hospitals across the state.

He has instructed the officials to pay special attention to the number of infected people in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kanpur Nagar, Gorakhpur, etc… (The New Indian Express)
