Managing Resistant HT: What Options Do I have When Drugs Fail?

  1. Pseudoresistance needs to be ruled out.
  2. ABPM is a very helpful tool.
  3. Secondary causes must be ruled out and treated appropriately.
  4. Judicious uptitration of single or appropriate combination of drugs overcomes this problem.
  5. Diuretics are the cornerstone of therapy of resistant HT.
  6. Stenting renal artery in RAS does not help much.‹‹ Newer drugs and interventions hold promise for the future.
