Mumbai doctor suffers adverse event after COVID-19 vaccine shot
On Sunday, a Mumbai doctor was admitted in the intensive care unit of the V N Desai Hospital following the vaccination against COVID-19. He suffered dizziness, fever, loose motions, dehydration and weakness after taking the vaccine shot.
Dr Jairaj Acharya, who is attached with the V N Desai Hospital, took his vaccine shot in the hospital on 16th January in the first round of immunization rollout. VN Desai is designated asone of the 10 centres for vaccination in Mumbai. Within 24 hours, Dr Acharya suffered an adverse effect after receiving the vaccination. He complained of fever and dizziness and was immediately rushed to the VN Desai Hospital and was kept in ICU care. A hospital source said that he was unwell when he got admitted.
Suresh Kakani, Additional Municipal Commissioner said that Acharya was admitted in the ICU as preventive measure. Doctors have confirmed that he suffered an adverse event related to the vaccination but his condition is stable. He will get discharged by Tuesday morning.
In Maharashtra, more than 280 cases of adverse events are observed post vaccination on 16th January. Dr Acharya said that he was fine and recovering when contacted. He assured everyone that the vaccine is safe.
