  • Pediatric Dermatology is a challenging area for many dermatologists who lack a proper training in this field.
  • Challenges in pharmacotherapy of children: Lack of enough evidence in children; off-label/unlicensed drugs; lack of pediatric formulation and physiology pharmacodynamics.
  • History taking is a challenge as young children don’t speak: Parent’s interpretation of symptoms; children>4 years may be able to provide some of their own history; variable reliability of parent’s observations and ASS care takers.
  • Benign dermatoses in newborns must be distinguished from more serious disorders with cutaneous manifestations.
  • Future vision: Prevention/cure of genetic diseases-epidermolysis bullosa (EB)/ichthyosis; personalized therapies for AD; devices (noninvasive) for study; vaccines-for wards/molluscum and inflammatory diseases-better targeted treatment.
